Ian Hammond Brown - Music and Lyrics
As a composer / lyricist Ian has written several musicals - In 1994 his musical CAVALLO was performed at the Edinburgh Fringe. In 1997 he wrote music and co-wrote lyrics for DORIAN GRAY – THE MUSICAL, also performed in Edinburgh. In 1999 he completed a Diploma in Music through the Open University. He wrote music and Lyrics for BLUDE RED and a shorter adaptation of WHISKY GALORE – A MUSICAL! both performed at the Edinburgh fringe in 2006, produced by Cutting Edge Theatre Company. In 2007 his musical FLING! written with Suzanne Lofthus, was one of the ten finalists in MACMUSICAL – 10 ON A HIGHLAND QUEST screened on BBC2. He has also written music for productions of A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE and music and lyrics for HOW TO CREATE AN AVATAR, commissioned by Scottish Youth Theatre. Ian is currently working on a number of other musical theatre projects including the new musical ELEVEN, the musical comedy IT’S ALL ABOUT LOVE! and a musical based on the life of Andrew Carnegie.
A new full length adaptation of WHISKY GALORE – A MUSICAL! is currently running at Pitlochry Festival Theatre for the 2009 season.
As an actor and singer he has appeared in various productions including THE MAGIC FLUTE and more recently the new musical CLARINDA creating the roles of James Mclehose and Gavin Hamilton and singing on the original cast recording. Other theatre work includes CRUSADE, THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL, BBC’S - FUTUREWORLD, Theatre in Education and Youth Theatre Work.
Suzanne Lofthus - Producer/ Book/Additional Lyrics
Suzanne is Artistic Director of Cutting Edge Theatre Company and is the Producer of "Blude Red". She was the Writer and Director of "Blude Red" when it started out as a play in 1997. Suzanne is also the author of "Glencoe Lament" and "A Scot's Passion". She has directed "Macbeth" and "Romeo and Juliet" round Scottish Castles and the large scale promenade productions of "Christ, the Final Days" and "The Life of Jesus Christ" at Dundas Castle amongst many other productions. Suzanne also teaches drama both in the UK and abroad. Suzanne and Ian work together on a number of musicals including the comedy musical “Fling!” which was in the final 10 new Scottish Musicals selected for the Highland Quest Competition run by Eden Court Theatre and Sir Cameron Mackintosh. They are also now working on a new musical “Eleven” about the futility of War.
Marion McNeill - Musical Director/ Vocal Arrangements/ Additional Lyrics
Marion enjoys dividing her time between professional singing and Musical Directing. While studying at RSAMD and London College, she completed a joint degree in singing, piano and vocal physiology. She is currently the principal lecturer of Singing and Musical Director at Queen Margaret University College, Edinburgh where she has worked on "Into the Woods" and "Godspell" as well as many other productions. She has vocal coached for many shows including "Picasso's Women" at the Edinburgh Festival 2002, as Musical Director and Arranger for Irvine Welsh's musical "Blackpool" and Vocal Coach for Grid Iron's production of "Variety" at the King's Theatre, Edinburgh. She has also worked as Vocal Coach for Dundee Repertory Theatre and also with Grid Iron on their Hip Hop Musical “Fierce” to name but few projects she has worked on.
